Shard Rules
We are a Consentual PVP/PK shard. If that is not what
you are looking for then please don't waste your time or ours. I Want to save
you the time of reading the rules if this is not your kind of shard. Thanks
for considering our shard and we hope you find what you are looking for in the
myriads of other shards that are available to play on.
Only mature players with common sense need apply!
USE OF OUR FILES IS A REQUIREMENT NOT A REQUEST! Since too
many hacks and exploits are possible using other files (ex: verdata.mul, multi.idx,
multi.mul, etc.) you are now required to use our files which are provided for
you on the files page. Use of any others is strictly forbidden and should you
be found out will be punishable by instant banning. Sorry to be so strict on
this, but this is for the protection of the shard and economy. If you can't
gain your riches within our rules...go to a shard that doesn't care.
This shard is a free service that does not profit from its operation. Understand
that the people who operate it do have families and lives of their own they
need to take care of as well. We try our best to be around as much as possible,
but we can't be here 24/7 and although you are important to us...our families
are moreso.
Always know the rules. Ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse
to avoid punishment. Visit the boards and site regularly. Rules change a lot
(especially when you get exploiters and those that know all the bugs and don't
report them), and of course I am not infallable and will miss things here and
there too that will be added as they come up. I would suggest reading thru them
at least once per month to keep up to date.
*NOTE* Contrary
to the beliefs of some, I am in no way obligated to justify the rules I have
set up here for this shard. Many have multiple reasons and most of you know
them so spare me the complaints and such on those you don't agree with. They
aren't yours to change. I don't have the time nor the inclination to be typing
up reasoning for my rules to everyone who asks. I realize that some really don't
understand why and I'm sorry to have to put it this way but I have explained
way too many times to way too many people that just didn't care in the end anyways,
therefore, these are my rules, they are not subject to change on your whims
only mine. Respect them as they are or find somewhere else to play should you
not be able to handle them as they are. (I am only one person trying to make
this as good as I can and clear as I can, the why's are mine to consider, the
what's are yours)

1. ACCOUNT NAMES need to be between
5 and 10 characters long, including the letters a-z A-Z and/or the numbers 0-9.
NO punctuation, NO spaces. The server tends to delete account names with spaces
and anything besides letters and numbers. Any account names submitted thru email
will be changed by the Admin if needed to accomodate these guidelines and you
will recieve the account name and password in your email response.

2. Respect the Staff as you wish to be respected. If
you fail to comply with this rule, you will be warned once. After that you will
be jailed. The Staff Member determines what is disrespectful, NOT the player.
3. You will be given 1 account with a limit of 2 characters
TOTAL NOT at a time, to play with, this should be plenty for your purposes.
This means you are not allowed to delete and recreate at your whim, it means
you get 2 chars and no more, so choose your chars setup and names wisely, they
will not be changed for you unless it is found to be distasteful to us. I do
realize you are "capable" of creating more than 2 characters than 2 but it is
not allowed, the limit is a rule. Should you be found to break it you will risk
the removal of all your chars and need to start over. Items/riches/etc will
NOT be replaced should you choose to break this rule and be caught so think
twice before doing so.
DO NOT CREATE YOUR 2 CHARS EXACTLY OR ALMOST
EXACTLY THE SAME THING WITH OPPOSITE ALIGNMENTS ON PVP/NON PVP. IF I FIND YOU
HAVE DONE THIS I WILL CONSIDER THIS AN ATTACK ON PEOPLE'S INTEGRITY. HAVE COMMON
SENSE ON THIS ISSUE. YOU GET 2 CHARS AND 2 CHARS ALONE.
4. Keep the vulgar language to a minimum , remember young
children play here who will see your examples and we don't care if OSI's standards
are lower than ours. Racial or ethnic slurs of any kind are not tolerated.
5. Your behavior while jailed DOES play a part in how
you are dealt with, I suggest you think about that "before" mouthing off to
the staff.
6. Do not page GM's unless you have a legitimate reason
for doing so. Needing help with something, bugs reports, and problems are legit,
please page us for that help. If you don't know how to do something, need an
explanation of a function and how it works, need to change some setup in your
game etc, those are good reasons to page "after" you have checked the message
board "helpful instruction" section for answers. Paging us with messages like
"hey, I'm new", "is there a GM on????", "I am lost", "I died", will not be answered,
only removed. It is a pain to clear that page que, and unfortunately, your message
won't go away until we physically answer it, so please have courtesy of your
staff when paging and page for the right reasons. CLARIFY the reasoning of your
page with an explanation of what your page is for. Include dates/times/pertinent
info as much as you can. Repeatedly paging nonsense pages to be a pain will
only get you jailed so please don't do it. Not to mention that paging again
wipes out the previous page completely anyways so you are wasting your time
on top of it.
If you solve your problem before a GM can get to your page, please have courtesy
to repage and state something such as "nm my page, it's fixed" or something
similar depending on the circumstances so the staff knows they are not needed
to take care of that page and it can be cleared.
7. GM's will not restore stats or skills that you claim
to lose. It is too easy to cheat like this, and unfortunately GM's have been
lied to in the past on numerous occasions. On the same token, GM's will not
grant stats or skills to any player upon request. If you see any Krynn's Demise
staff member doing this or anything questionable, icq or email the admin asap
at krynnsdemise@yahoo.com
and report the abuse. Should you have problems with your stats and skills
it will be reported to the Admin who will decide whether it needs fixing or
not.
8. Exploiters of any kind will be penalized. If you find
a bug and exploit it, failing to report it, you run the risk of being punished
when it is discovered. Players love to gossip and GM's listen, so eventually
you will get caught, so don't run the risk of jail or banning.
NOTE: The
use of alcohol, cursed items or any other means to lower stats in order to gain
them is NOT allowed in Krynn's Demise and is considered an exploit. Exploiting
is a serious offense in Krynn's Demise and will not be tolerated at all. This
includes using means of lowering stats/skills to gain entrance to specific newbie
areas!! My Definitions of:
Exploiting: Using unnatural means which use no skills
or resources in order to gain stats/skills or riches. Exploiting a Bug:
Finding out that something allows a char to gain stats/skills/riches
unnaturally due to a scripting error, server bug, or other problem that the
Admin is either unaware of or cannot fix, and using it anyways. In any case
please page and ask if you are unusure.
Using special means in order to gain your skills is an exploit. See above. This
includes Blocking off animals for taming with items such as tables or boxes
or chests or whatever to keep them from escaping. This is NOT allowed. Also
NOT allowed is the server bug of being almost out of site of the npc/animal
or target of any kind and using skills to make them gain faster. This is a server
bug and considered an exploit.
9. We do not dye items, or do any favors of that nature
for players. Such 'gifts' are reserved for special events, and rewards. Newbying
keys will be your responsibility since the only things that need newbying here
will be tinkered keys. Your spellbook which you start with is already be newbied
and a key newbie machine has been added to each bankfront in each city for your
use. House keys to "your own" house are automatically newbied, but copies are
not.
*NOTE* Keys
that are newbied MUST stay in your main pack to retain the newbie setting. Should
you put them into a diff container they will no longer act newbied until they
are again put into main pack area. Do not page to have keys replaced, if they
are to your own house or sign you can make them yourself using your locksmith
option on your house sign.
10. We decorate houses only if you have recieved a decor
prize which then is quite liberal using only normal decor items. The goal here
is to make almost everything craftable, but this will take time so we will adapt
as we go along with this. Some items will be for sale in the market place for
decor that won't be made craftable.
NOTE: GM Decor
is not transferrable to others upon leaving the shard permanently nor at any
time, replacable, movable etc to any other locations other than the house/location
it was put in to start with. If you are not certain your house will be permanently
in that spot, unless you don't care if you lose the decor I would suggest you
don't have the decor done until you are sure. Once your decor has been done
it will not be moved if you decide to move your house and you will still be
responsible for paging staff to remove it from the shard and charged if you
move the building and don't page about it. That could add up to a pretty copper
of charges for a page that would take you 30 seconds to do. I'm sorry about
the non transferrability to new house locations but it is just really a pain
to have to do this with lately people moving every few days so this is needed
to be in place. Deeded things like plants and rugs etc that are not from GM
decor will still be replaced for you with deeds.
11. Macroing is allowed here with restrictions. Unattended
macroing longer than 10 minutes is NOT allowed under any circumstances! Your
dinner time, lunch time, parents calling you, etc. are not excuses to be unattended
macroing. If you should need to leave the keyboard for any time of unknown length,
I would suggest you turn your macros off first or log off. This will be completely
your responsibility to comply with this, there are no exceptions.
Macros must be set with the appropriate pauses in order that they don't spam
my console and log files with unneeded error messages and skill gain with no
skill actual performed.
*NOTE* While
you may not be macroing when the errors to the console show up, using hot keys
will have the same result if you use them too fast (the skill is in process
yet and you are trying to start it too soon). Be sure to give enough time for
the skill to complete before you try to run it again. This will be treated the
same as if you were macroing with incorrect pauses so be sure to have this courtesy
when you are running hot keys (obviously putting objects on your keyboard or
holding them down is a big bad NOT!!!)
12. You may not "place" a house, guild stone, player
vendor or any other obstruction anywhere inside standard town, guarded area,
inside enclosed areas such as mines or underground passageways, or within doorways
of those areas such as mine entrances (this means do not block it from site
at all there must be a visible pathway on the game screen not just radar map
to the location you are placing near, a complete pathway not just that you can
see the entrance behind your house and then have to see if you can get there)
page a staff member if you are unsure.
*NOTE* Place
houses at least 2 spaces from the next house/fence/road. (2 walkable squares
on all parts of the house/fence and not to be within the multi range of another
thing. All multied things, be it a house or road, have a perfect square range
so if the house has a stairway or the floors above on it that protrude from
the house go from the end of there as the end of the house not from the house
itself. If the road section has a corner with protruding ends same thing, square
it out from the ends). When more than one multied item (house/fence/gm placed
town roads) is placed within each others multi regions which in most cases is
approx 2 spaces around it, they think they are both on the same spot and will
fight for domination. Hence when you find yourself in the floor of your house
stuck after you have opened the door or used your house sign, the first thing
you need to check is to see if your house is too close to another house, road,
or fence which it is fighting for domination of space with. If you find this
the case please move your house or see that the house placed last is moved.
If you have a problem with this and the player is not present to fix this, please
page a GM for assistance.
NOTE: House
limit is 3 per person. This means 6 per account since you have a 2 char limit
per account. This does not include the following buildings when inside a town:
public shops set up with purchasable player vendors in them (all other shops
are considered a normal house and subject to the 3 house rule), the Town Hall,
1 Guild House if it is a guild town, (NOTE: if not a guild town guild houses
are subject to the 3 house rule) and fences which have their own restrictions
setup already.*see town rules for further info on vendors* I realize that this
puts a damper when one person is doing all the placing of buildings but I guess
you will have to start all contributing part of your benefits to your towns
rather than just chipping in the money and one person buying and placing, therefore
maybe you'll each have to forfeit one or so of your 3 houses allowed for your
towns.
Extra Note:
Forges and anvils are limited to 1 set per house (town shops will not be recieving
these, except for smithy which is limited to 1 per town). Forges and Anvils
will be purchased back by staff for 1/4 of your purchase value so if you pay
5k for one of those items, you will recieve only 1200 gold in return for it,
there is no trade in value or tokens given for them unless it is for a house
move so you can have them reput back in.
13. The Staff is not employed by ACME Transport Inc.
, we will not gate or teleport anybody unless it's necessary to the staff to
do so. Should you be killed on an island a staff member may teleport you to
a healer's if they are on, but it will be your own responsibility to get back
to your body to reclaim your belongings.
14. Threatening staff members or the shard with hacking
them or anything similar results in instant ban.
15. Anybody caught attempting to hack staff accounts
will be prosecuted to the fullest extent that the law provides!
16. This is a Consentual PVP/PK shard and you will be
tagged at starting according to your choice, see PVP/PK rules here
17. Since there is NO looting of NON PVP players homes,
then it stands to reason that NON PVP players are not allowed to loot homes
at all, logically speaking that is..since all NON PVP homes are safe..and NON
PVP players are not allowed to instigate confrontations with PVP..then it falls
to reason that they aren't allowed to loot homes at all.
17a. Looting of NON PVP players and by NON PVP players
is allowed ONLY if you are absolutely sure the person has been killed by a monster
or creature and not another player and ONLY if that creature is NOT a summoned
creature by another player. Monsters kill people and all bodies are fair game
to looters ONLY in this situation. If you are uncertain then don't do it. If
they have been killed by a player chances are a staff member is near or on their
way to investigate. Fair warning...this is a very bad offence and will be punished
strictly and according to number of offenses of the looter and all items must
be returned to the victim. *NOTE* all you NON PVPers out there be very very
warned that anyone caught stalking other players while being the NON PVP alignment
in order to loot them if they are killed by monsters or creatures will suffer
perma PVP on all their chars along with any other punishments.
NOTE: House
sharing between 2 different factions (PVP and NON PVP) will revert to the rules
for looting etc for the PVP player, so all NON PVP players please be warned
that your house will no longer be protected by the NON PVP tag you wear if you
share a home with the opposite alignment. This INCLUDES if you are allowing
entrance with sharing keys. If you give a PVP player a key to your NON PVP house,
it is no longer protected by the NON PVP looting rules as that player may lose
your key when they are killed by another player....sorry to say but that's tough
luck and hope it don't have to happen to you.
18. Any and all items or tweaks given by a GM that are
against my rules and regulations of staff, will be removed/deleted etc. regardless
of consequences to the player, upon discovery. Please be aware that if you accept
these things you are accepting the consequences of their removal at any given
time. I do not owe you an explaination or need to make you aware of this when
I do so . If you are unsure of an item or tweak being offer by a staff person,
contact the Admin before or after the transfer to verify its legitimacy. This
will save you the trouble of losing it later should it not be a legit transfer.
19. If your character's name is inappropriate for the
role-playing environment, the staff will change it to something more appropriate.
This goes for guild names and titles as well.
20. NO summons of monsters of any kind are allowed within
any town limits other than Bucs Den .
NO GUARD CALLING REGUARDLESS OF CRIMINAL STATUS, THAT IS CONSIDERED
ILLEGAL NO MATTER WHAT ALIGNMENT YOU ARE SO DON'T DO IT!!
GUARD CALLING IS FOR THOSE BEING ATTACKED IN TOWN, FOR PROTECTION ONLY AND NOTHING
ELSE, IT IS NOT SOMETHING TO USE TO PISS SOMEONE
OFF OR GET SOMEONE BACK WITH!!!
21. You may keep 20 animals maximum (unshrunk) in a 10
x 10 pen. You may have 2 pens of animals per account, but these pens need to
be at least 3 screens apart so they won't cause so much lag in one area for
others that approach and for yourself too. A screen is defined as the viewable
game screen. This is not an accuracy check so just do your best to be at least
3 screens apart. If you choose to park your fence directly next to your house,
then the total number of animals can only be 20 between them. Do not put 20
animals in your pen and then add more to your house. Consider that too close
of proximity to the fence. You may own all the animals you like, just that you
may only have 20 per pen unshrunk at a time in a spot..or in your house etc.
You may have as many animals unshrunk as you want if they are scattered.
Fences are not be allowed inside player town limits. Please make sure to move
your fences outside of the currently used area of your player towns. Too many
animals in the towns is lagging too many people so we are going to insist you
move them outside of your towns. The 3 screen placement rules apply here from
player towns so as not to lag all in it.
Extra Notes:
Taming is not meant to be any easier of a skill than any of the others, therefore
I do not want to see or hear about anyone blocking areas where the animals are
in order to tame them better or faster or with less effort than a macro alone
can help with. If they are walking to far away it's because I've set them
to do so to make it more difficult on purpose, not for you to find ways to get
around this.
Blocking of animals in order to tame
them (first tame only) is not allowed. Taming is exactly
that, tame it. If you herd it away and I get reports that the spawn is not spawning
for more than 1 day, I will replace the spawn. Most creatures in our domain
will be tamed in that length of time so if you herd it, tame it asap or it will
keep the spawns from respawning again, which of course means you are controlling
that spawn....sorry it ain't your spawn to control. If it comes to our
having to reset the spawn due to someone herding it away and using it to practice
taming on without actually getting it tame, or you just didn't feel like it
once you got it where you were going...you will find it gone when the spawn
is redone so it is to your benefit to tame it should you wish not to lose it.
If you have one of these creatures and it disappears....don't page on it, don't
even bother us with it for it is more than likely that spawn was redone and
you just lost your work and time etc. etc.
22. Use of any "cheat" programs that allow you to do
things like gain skills/stats to fast, get more money or items, break into houses
or npc's, or anything like this are NOT allowed in Krynn's
Demise. At this moment the types of programs allowed here are programs like
and including UO Assist, UO mapper, UO Magic, UO Curse...these types of programs
that basically are helpful and allow you to macro easier are acceptable...those
that help you do bad things are not. Banning is the only result..there will
be no jailing should you be caught using programs that allow you to actually
"cheat" in the shard. (speed programs and Injection are currently under consideration
as to whether or not they are allowed...so...you may use them until this decision
has been reached).
23. LOGGING out of Game: Do not log out of the game in
or very near socially populated areas that will cause lag. This includes but
is not limited to full circle areas of Brit Bank, Post Office, Help/Tele room,
and any areas in which lots of people tend to congregate. Logging in cities
is set to instant at the moment so you are safe to do so at any place other
than those populated places so please do that. This will help keep the lag down
when too many people are logged in the same area.
NOTE OF CLARIFICATION:
If it is a building listed above then don't log there or anywhere on the road
around it, if I can see you physically, by running around the building, you
are too close. Obviously this doesn't apply to areas like the tele room since
it has no roads around it hehe. In general go at least a screen away from the
noted areas above to be safe. After all, other than these few places you have
a whole world of insta log cities to log in, just do it a screen away from the
above areas and you will be fine. And it only takes a few extra seconds to walk
a screen away :)
24. The PVP or NON PVP tag is a requirement not a request .
Should your char somehow get out of the room without one (hey scripts aren't
infallible ye know hehe) please page a staff member to be sent back to create
your alignment. Should your char be found without one we will assume, if you
didn't page, that either you didn't read the rules (tsk tsk) or you are trying
to get around it. In either case we will choose one for you which may not be
the one you want and you will be stuck with it unless you have your choices
left on your change alignment stones. Sooooooo better to be safe than sorry
and make sure you have one or page if you don't. NOTE: Should you be jailed
and decide at that moment to create a new char to see if you can get out of
being jailed, don't bother, you will still be jailed and now you will have a
char with no alignment in jail too. More work for me and the staff to have to
rush you places to get it fixed. Jailing works by account not char so don't
make a new one just for the sake of trying to get out of being jailed. You'll
be wasting both our times.
NOTE: Guilds
may be one alignment or the other, they may not contain both PVP & NON PVP for
obvious reasons. Should you wish to join a guild that has a different alignment
than you need to use your change stone to change your alignment to the opposite
one. If your change stone is used up or gone please page and request this change
for this purpose only. Changes will not be granted for no reason, but will most
likely be granted for this purpose should you not have a past history of numerous
changes or problems.
NON PVP Guilds CANNOT choose to be a Chaos
or Order alignment guild. This is conflicting entirely with the NON
PVP status of a guild and makes you show up as Red to other guilds
of those orders. You may choose Neutral ONLY while being a
NON PVP guild. Should you choose to disobey this rule (please keep in mind ignorance
is no excuse since it is right here in writing for all to see) you will risk
your guild stone being removed from the shard completely and having to start
it all over again. Stands to reason that it would be to your benefit not do
do this.
25. Killing/Fighting of creatures you or others summon
in order to gain stats/skills/fame/karma or any other attributes of your chars
is strictly forbidden. Killing/Fighting of a summoned creature should be only
in real self defense and I don't mean cuz you summoned it or your friend did
and you had to kill it (and don't look for loop holes on this and piss me off,
IT IS FORBIDDEN , very clearly in any way shape or manner!!).
26. NO warfare/fighting can take place
in any town other than Bucaneer's Den, under any circumstances. All other towns
are designated safe zones. If you are in combat with another player and that
player runs into guard protection, you may NOT continue the
battle into town limits. The battle must stop immediately once town limits have
been crossed no matter what the criminal status's are for either of you. For
example, if you have an Energy Vortex (EV) that is killing the player in town,
you must dispel the EV immediately.
NOTE: Killing
of others, attacking also, by use of calling the guards is considered murder
same as if you killed them yourself. Since there is a no fighting/killing rule
in this shard, and since there is no way to actually "stop" the guard killing
from happening short of majorly revamping (bugful I may add) the guards, there
is no need for the color coded system of criminality. Hence, all players no
matter what criminal status they are in are allowed in all towns, other than
those that are red murderers which will activate npc's into calling guards.
And even red murderers are allowed if they can get away with it lol. Therefore
if you call the guards on someone that is criminally marked, you are murdering
them, no if's, and's or but's about it. Punishable by the rules that govern
killing.
27. NO killing of NPC Vendors is allowed
in this shard. Period!! If you need karma and fame to level or to maintain your
bad guy image then do it with monsters, non vendor type NPC's and PVP players
not the NPC Vendors's.
28. NO luring of NPC's away from the
shop/areas they are in using any means whatsoever. This causes hardship for
other players and extra work for staff to have to deal with vendors that are
not there when players page for them.
These are not the only rules. Any other rules set by Admins will be valid and
YOU are responsible to keep up to date with them by checking the site regularly
and reading the updates on the message board.
*MEGA NOTE*
There will be no returning upon banning for any offense and your account and
belongings will be deleted immediately so think hard before you choose to break
these rules on whether it is worth the risk. There are no timed bannings, only
timed jailings. Banned is banned forever.
